Pig In A Blanket

Y'all remember pig in a blanket in elementary school?! I do! Those previously frozen pancakes wrapped around that rubbery sausage with the little cup of syrup, a hash brown and boxed orange juice used to give me so much life in the morning. Now that I am mom I try to make everything fresh and especially fun for my son Austin. When I created this super easy savory pig in a blanket his eyes lit up and he was oh so excited! He said, "MAMA! How in this kitchen did you make me those pigs?!" Lol! I just smiled and served him. For all my moms trying these piggies out, get creative! Don't be afraid to put your own spin on how you want the piggies to look and remember, everything doesn't have to be so by the book. The point of this recipe is to have FUN, enjoy!

Lets get straight into this!

Ingredients:

1 can of biscuits

1 pack of hotdogs

2TBS Butter

pepper corns (for the eyes)

For the hotdogs:

There better NOT be anybody reading this that doesn't/t know how to boil hot dogs!!! BUT if you don't, put some water in a pot, put the hot dogs in there and boil them for about 10 minutes or until the get a little bigger. Then take them out and cut each of them in half, and set aside.

For the piggies:

Preheat oven to 350. Next pop open the can of biscuits and peel them apart. Next either with a rolling pin or your hands, roll or flatten out each individual biscuit and brush some melted butter on top. Then take one half of the hot dog you just in cut and place in the center. Next take each side of the biscuit to where it looks like a taco and fold/pinch in all the sides. Keep the pinched side down and place on parchment paper on a baking sheet.

For the nose and ears:

Take one of the biscuits, roll/flatten it out and cut out little ears in the shape of small triangles. Next, fold the ears in slightly and pin them to the body with toothpicks. For the nose cut out tiny circles and poke 2 holes in them with a tooth pick. For the eyes, pop in whole black peppercorns. Repeat for the remaining biscuits. Brush the piggies with more melted butter and place them in the oven for about 15 mins or until golden brown. Remove. let them cool and serve!
