Sheperd's Pie Recipe!

Hey yall! Day 11 of #12DaysOfChristmas and we are kicking it off with this super easy to make U.K. classic. I have been wasting leftovers like crazy, so one of my goals as of lately is to recreate new dishes out of whatever is leftover from the original meal if possible. I had a ton of leftover whipped mashed potatoes, it was cold and I wanted some comfort food. I came up with the idea to make Sheperd's Pie, such a random craving right?
I was a little nervous thinking Austin was not going to eat the dish because of the way it looks and we all eat with our eyes first. To my surprise he devoured his first plate and then asked for seconds and THEN we ate it again the next day. One thing I know about Austin is that he is very particular about his food as a 7 year old foodie, and he will ALWAYS tell the truth about my food tastes all the way down to the texture. So when he gives it a thumbs up, I know the food is A-1. Let's jump right into the recipe!
Ingredients:
1LB ground beef
2TBS Worcestershire sauce
1TBS onion powder
1TBS garlic powder
1tsp pepper
2TBS seasoning salt
1 1/2 cups vegetable medley (frozen)
1 can tomato paste
2 TBS flour
1 cup beef broth
2 cloves garlic (chopped)
1/2 onion (chopped)
About 2 cups mashed potatoes
As much cheese as you'd like

2.) Lightly saute chopped onion and garlic
3.) Add ground beef

5.) Add tomato paste + flour and stir
6.) Add beef broth and stir until the sauce/meat mixture begins to thicken
7.) Next add in frozen veggies until they've completely defrosted
8.) Next take a pie dish and pour in meat mixture and spread evenly
9.) Top with mashed potatoes and spread evenly over the meat mixture
10.) Finish off dish with as much cheese as you'd like
11.) Bake in the oven for about 35-40 minutes or until the edges of the pie are a little crispy and bubbly
12.) Serve and eat immediately!
Try this dish out any time you have leftover mashed potatoes, I promise you won't be disappointed! Let me know what you think, and always remember my recipe is just a guide for you to find your own way. Enjoy! Until next time,
