Turkey Lasagna!

Let’s make one of Austin’s FAVORITE simple, comfort dishes, turkey lasagna. But let me give y’all a disclaimer over here. You will never learn how to cook from your soul if you’re always measuring every little thing. Yes you can, but this blog isn’t for all of that. Here you will learn how to cook off instincts and taste, NOT technical measuring. I will give you a measurements here and there when we cook and fasho when we bake because that shit is science unfortunately mixed with a little love,

Let’s get straight to it! INGREDIENTS:  1 box of lasagna noodles 1/4 c grapeseed oil (or whatever oil you have on hand)  1-1.5 lbs ground turkey  1 sweet onion (diced) 2 cloves garlic (minced OR you can buy minced garlic and use 1-2 TBS) 1 can crushed or diced tomatoes  2 10 oz jars of roasted garlic marinara sauce Seasoning salt Black Pepper 1 TBS Oregano  Onion powder Garlic salt 1 TBS Basil (dried) Dried parsley  **I don’t really measure seasonings because the flavor of a dish constantly changes when you cook, my advice is to start with a little of each and adjust to YOUR personal taste** 1 16 oz tub of ricotta  1/2 bunch fresh parsley 2 c Cheddar cheese (about 1 medium block grated) 2 c Mozzarella (about 1 medium block grated)

RECIPE: (for the meat sauce)

1.) Chop onions and garlic

2.) Sauté them for about 5 minutes on medium heat in a heavy bottomed pot

3.) Add your ground turkey and season it with every seasoning listed

4.) Keep cooking it down until it gets brown (should take about 10 minutes

5.) Add 1 c of the shredded cheese and 1 c of the mozzarella to the meat

6.) Then season a little more and stir

7.) Add 1 jar of the marinara sauce & the crushed tomatoes and stir

8.) Season a little more, stir and let simmer

RECIPE: (for the ricotta mixture)

1.) Take tub of ricotta and mix in 1TBS of every seasoning on the ingredient list, add a pinch of salt

2.) Chop the entire 1/2 bunch of FRESH parsley and put 1/2 of that into your ricotta

3.) Mix everything together & taste it & adjust seasonings to what YOU want it to taste like

ASSEMBLY:

1.) Cover the bottom of a baking dish with a little bit of the second jar of marinara sauce and a little cheddar cheese

2.) Next lay down 3-4 of the uncooked lasagna noodles ontol of the sauce and cheese and spread it evenly

3.) Next add some meat sauce on top of the noodles and spread it evenly

4.) Next add a few TBS of the ricotta mixture all over (it doesn’t have to be all nice & meat)

5.) Now add some more of the cheddar and mozzarella cheese

6.) Then repeat steps 1-5 until your baking dish has reached capacity

7.) Once it has, top with the remainder of the cheese & some of the fresh parsley.

8.) Bake uncovered on 350 degrees for about 45 minutes to an hour (depending on how crispy you like the edges of your lasagna)

9.) Let it cool and then eat that shit !!!

I hope this recipe helps and you don’t HAVE to use turkey meat. Use whatever meat you want, my recipes are usually versatile enough for substitutions. As always sue my recipes as more of a guide than anything and make them your own.
